Michael is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina and is co-founder
of LordSong. Singing lead and tenor vocal for LordSong, Michael
loves to tell about the love of Jesus through song. He became a
Christian at the age of nine and felt the call of ministry on his
life later on. Although he sang with his family in local churches
and on his grandfather's radio program as a child, as a teenager he
seriously considered what direction God wanted him to take as far as
ministry was concerned.
During his college years, a solid foundation for ministry was built
through the study of religion and mass communications. It was then
that Michael began to write songs and pursue a solo music ministry
geared toward reaching teens for Christ. God opened many doors not
only in local churches, but at the convention level, i.e.,
Summersalt, McCall Royal Ambassador Camp, Big Youth Thing and
Evangelympics.
In October 1996, while in the studio recording his first album,
Michael met Kim Ruppe. She and her sisters were hired to sing
background vocals on a few songs. One year later he proposed and
they married in June 1998. After much prayer and soul searching,
Michael and Kim founded the ministry of LordSong in January 2000.
Currently, Michael is pursuing the upstart of a new ministry called
Christian Woods and Water. This will be a Christian outreach to
share the gospel to hunters and fishermen through Bible studies,
video, clothing, etc.
