Kim, who sings both alto and soprano for LordSong, began her
pilgrimage into gospel music at a very early age. Kim's first memory
of singing is at the age of three. "I remember standing on a stool
in front of a huge microphone, my mom was playing the piano, and I
sang Born To Serve The Lord on live radio. I think I was born
singing." Kim's mother once said that Kim could hum a song in
"pitch" before she could even say the words.
Kim accepted Christ at the age of seven at Vacation Bible School.
She, along with her mother and younger sister, began singing
together in local churches. Her family recorded their first album as
"The Ruppes" when Kim was ten years old. All through middle and high
school, when everyone else was doing "normal" stuff like
cheerleading, playing sports and going to ball games, Kim was
traveling across the country telling others about Jesus through
song. She sang with The Ruppes for nearly twenty years and enjoyed
being part of the only female group to attain a #1 song in Southern
Gospel music.
Kim met her husband Michael in 1996 while singing background vocals
on his solo album. They were married in June 1998. A year later,
they felt God calling them to minister together as a family.
LordSong was founded and began touring in January 2000. Along with
touring, Kim handles most of the office work and booking for
LordSong. She also acts as road manager for the Mark Lowry “Be the
Miracle” Tour. Kim’s daughter, Kailey, just left home to attend
North Greenville University, so now she knows what the “empty nest”
syndrome is all about.
